Introducing Canvas: a new way to see your whole project

Canvas is a visual overview of your Obvious project — all your documents, workbooks, and artifacts on a single surface.

Canvas is a new view in Obvious that gives you a visual map of your entire project — every document, workbook, artifact, and thread, arranged spatially on an infinite surface.

The problem Canvas solves is one we kept hearing from teams working on complex, multi-part projects: the individual pieces are in Obvious, but there's no way to step back and see how they fit together. You know the analysis is connected to the brief, which connects to the presentation, but navigating that requires remembering it — not seeing it.

Canvas makes the structure visible. You can arrange artifacts manually, or let Obvious suggest a layout based on how things are connected. Threads between documents are visible as lines. You can zoom out to see the whole project or zoom in on a cluster of related work.

Canvas is available in all Obvious projects starting today. Open any project and click the Canvas icon in the top nav to try it.
