Frontier Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct (“Code”) applies to all Obvious, Inc. (“Obvious,” “us,” “we,” or “our”) Frontier Events, both in-person and virtual. Frontier Events include the Full Build, the Sprint, and any related sessions, social gatherings, and online spaces associated with a Frontier Event. If you are attending a Frontier Event, the Frontier Events Terms of Service also apply to you.

Obvious reserves the right to sanction you or expel you from a Frontier Event if we believe, in our sole discretion, that you violated this Code. This policy may be updated at any time. Please review it periodically.

Some Frontier Events may have additional rules in place, which will be clearly communicated to participants. Participants are responsible for knowing and following these rules.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment

Every attendee deserves to feel secure and respected at a Frontier Event. Obvious is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental health status, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Harassing conduct both in person and online.
  • Offensive comments related to personal characteristics, including gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental health status, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion.
  • Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices or practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.
  • Deliberate misgendering or use of “dead” or rejected names.
  • Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior.
  • Physical contact or simulated physical contact (e.g., textual descriptions like “hug” or “backrub”) without consent, or after a request to stop.
  • Threats of violence.
  • Incitement to violence toward any individual, including encouraging a person to take their own life or to engage in self-harm.
  • Deliberate intimidation.
  • Stalking or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes.
  • Sustained disruption of working sessions, discussions, or presentations.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting or assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others.
  • Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.
  • Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse.
  • Publication of private communication without consent.

Professional Conduct in Working Sessions

Frontier Events can include hands-on working sessions where teams ship real code. Attendees are expected to conduct themselves with the professionalism and respect that a collaborative engineering environment demands.

  • Treat other teams’ code, data, and work products with respect. Do not access, copy, or photograph another team’s screen, code, or materials without their explicit permission.
  • Do not interfere with another team’s work environment, repositories, or infrastructure during or after the Event.
  • Respect the confidentiality of information shared during the Event, including roadmaps, architecture decisions, code samples, and business priorities discussed by other teams. This obligation is also binding under the Frontier Events Terms of Service.
  • Provide constructive, honest feedback when collaborating. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks are not.
  • Follow all instructions from Obvious staff, venue staff, and security personnel regarding safety, facility rules, and event logistics.

Be Honest, Transparent, and Respectful

We ask that you represent yourself and your organization honestly at Frontier Events. Do not misrepresent your role, your team’s capabilities, or the state of your codebase. Do not take credit for other people’s work.

Your communications with others — whether in person or online — must remain respectful and must not disrupt the Event or jeopardize anyone’s health, safety, or security.

We rely on attendees to notify us of behaviors that are inconsistent with this Code of Conduct.

No Sharing Confidential Information

Do not share confidential or personal information, such as home addresses or personal phone numbers. While Frontier Events foster open collaboration, they are not an appropriate forum for sharing your company’s confidential information beyond what is necessary for the working session, or for sharing the confidential or personal information of others.

Attendees are reminded that information shared by other teams during the Event — including roadmaps, architecture, code, and business priorities — is confidential under both this Code and the Frontier Events Terms of Service.

No Self-Promotion or Solicitation

Frontier Events are focused on building and learning. Do not use Frontier Events to spam, pitch products, recruit, or self-promote, unless Obvious has explicitly designated a space for it. This includes distributing marketing materials, collecting contact information for sales purposes, or using the Event as a venue for commercial solicitation.

Alcohol and Substance Use

Where alcohol is served at a Frontier Event, attendees are expected to drink responsibly. Obvious reserves the right to refuse service to any attendee and to remove any attendee who becomes disruptive or poses a risk to themselves or others due to alcohol or substance use. Illegal drugs are prohibited at all Frontier Events.

Reporting

If you have concerns about behavior that may violate this Code of Conduct, please contact us at compliance@obvious.ai, or speak with any Obvious staff member at the Event. You may also report concerns privately and anonymously through a dedicated reporting method TBD.

We take all good-faith reports seriously. Obvious will investigate reports promptly and take appropriate action. Retaliation against anyone who reports a violation in good faith is itself a violation of this Code.

Consequences

Obvious may take any action we deem appropriate, up to and including removing content that violates this Code of Conduct, restricting access, and expelling a participant from a Frontier Event and future Frontier Events. If your access is terminated for violating this Code or the Frontier Events Terms of Service, you will not be entitled to any refund of any kind.
