Announcement

We've raised a $22M Series A led by Benchmark, with participation from existing investors. We're announcing it today.

We started Obvious because we believed the AI tools being built weren't built for the kind of work that actually matters — the work that requires context, judgment, and the ability to hold complexity over time. Two analysts trying to run a model and write up what it means shouldn't have to use four different tools. A designer carrying six months of product rationale shouldn't have to re-explain it every time they open a new AI session.

Obvious is a workspace: projects, documents, workbooks, and an agent that works with you — not for you, not at you. The agent remembers context. It can query your data, write the narrative that explains it, and hold the history of how you got there. All in one place.

We're not building a better chat interface. We're building a workspace where complex work can actually happen.

We're using this round to deepen the agent's capabilities, expand workbook performance for large-scale data work, grow our team (we're hiring across engineering and design), and launch programs like the Makers Program that extend access to Obvious beyond the obvious audience.

We're grateful to the teams who've been building with us in beta. This is for you.
